Ostertag Plaque Award Ceremonies
Each year, following the completion of the 'Ganza, the Pooh-Bah and the Deputy Pooh-Bah, or their designated representatives, present the winner with the coveted Ostertag Plaque. Here are a few pictures from those lavish ceremonies.
In 2007, Robyn Patch shattered the all-time scoring record with an astounding 86 points. At the tender age of nine, she also became the youngest prognosticator in 'Ganza history to hoist the Coveted Ostertag Plaque. Benevolent Grand Pooh-Bah Gavin McCollam (left) presents the Ostertag Plaque to Robyn while Deputy Pooh-Bah Dan Sipes looks on.
In 2006, David Bambrick became the first ever prognosticator to win his second Ostertag Plaque. David also won the 2003 'Ganza. Here he is hoisting his 2006 Coveted Ostertag Plaque.
In 2005, Josh Nees was the youngest prognosticator to win the 'Ganza. He hoisted the Coveted Ostertag Plaque at the tender age of 15.
Here is 2004 'Ganza Champion Larry Bambrick. He is the second consecutive Canadian citizen to hoist the Coveted Ostertag Plaque.
In 2002, Kathy Marion became the first Prognosticator of the fairer gender to win the the 'Ganza and hoist the Coveted Ostertag Plaque.
David Richert won the Millennium 'Ganza in 2001. David is shown here hoisting his Ostertag Plaque.
Steve Gaal hoists his Ostertag Plaque for the 15th Anniversary 'Ganza in 2000. Steve is the third Prognosticator in 'Ganza history, having first prognosticated in 1988.
Frank "Pete" Bostrom (Left) and John "Not Pete" Bostrom hoist their Ostertag Plaques from the 1998 and 1999 'Ganzas, respectively. The Bostroms are the only father-son combination to hoist Ostertag Plaques in the storied history of the Basketball Tournament Prediction Extravaganza. It's a good thing the Pooh-Bah outlawed pet entries into the 'Ganza, or there's a good chance that their dog (front) would have been hoisting a plaque instead of a bone. Hey, Pete and Not Pete, nice shirts!
In this photo taken in March of 2002, Todd Bibelheimer (right) and Dan Sipes, Deputy Pooh-Bah, pose with Todd's 1996 Ostertag Plaque.
Here is 1993 'Ganza Champ Ken McGregor hoisting his Ostertag Plaque.
Here's Benevolent Grand Pooh-Bah Gavin McCollam (right) and Deputy Pooh-Bah Dan Sipes (left) presenting the first place plaque to Rob Sipes in 1992. Deputy Dan had just gotten home from the local Julius Erving look-a-like contest. NOTE: Hey, Ostertag Plaque Winners! If you did not get an "official" award photo taken, feel free to have your spouse, parent, roommate, neighbor, mailman, etc. take a picture of you hoisting your Ostertag Plaque and send it to us. We'll scan the photo and include it on this page so the whole world can see what kind of dorks actually own something called an Ostertag Plaque. |
